Sketchabilities reveal - sketch #68

Hi everyone :)
I can't believe I haven't blogged in a week!  I've had a rather busy week & have only been scrapping here & there with DT commitments that I can't share yet.

But I do have something I can share today....for Sketchabilites sketch # 68 which is now live on the Sketchabilites blog

Here is the amazing sketch created by Karan Gerber....

And here is my take on it.....

"Doin' the twist"

I've delved into the OLD stash of Basic Grey again for this one....this time using papers from the "Black Tie" collection, along with a newer piece from the BG "Eskimo Kisses" collection.

I've also used some more fabulous Lil' Red Rocket embellies on this layout (there aren't many layouts nowadays that don't have some LRR on them :))).....there's 2 fabric buttons, a black spotted one & gorgeous soft yellow circle one.  There's also a LRR paper doiley,  vintage quote tag & an adorable "Adore" flag....along with a variety of other embellishments & alphas from my stash.

Sketch # 68 will be the last reveal for some of the Sketchabilites DT, as the time has come that it is the end of their 3 month term - which is a bit sad :( ....so why not pop over to the Sketchabilites blog & see their fabulous creations for one last time, & perhaps leave them some love while you're there <3  I'm sure they would greatly appreciate it :)

It has been a pleasure to work along side these talented ladies who come from all corners of the globe...thank you so much for all your amazing inspiration ladies :)  It's been most enjoyable working with you all.

I hope you are inspired by sketch #68 & are just itching to give it a go....I would soooo love to see your take on this fab sketch.  Just link your layout to the linky tool at the bottom of the sketch #68 post on the sketchabilities blog.

That's all from me for now....hopefully I'll be back soon with some more creations to share.
Thanks for dropping by & happy scrapping!!  xx

Just a quick post today to share another layout I've created using some leftovers from my Feb DT kit from Handmade by Suzanne - "On the move"

I've used a few leftover strips of PropelAccelerate & Full Tank...along with a piece of the printed transparency, Descend, some rubons & a few diecut pieces from the Collectables pack.

Layout is about DS & his job building planes, called Brumbies!

A few close ups....

I've also used another gorgeous red spotty button from Lil' Red Rocket <3...along with a few other bits & pieces from my stash :)

Also....don't forget that there's just over 1 week left to get your entries in for the March sketch competition at Handmade by Suzanne.  Just upload your layouts to the March sketch gallery by midnight 31.3.12 to be in the running for a $30 store voucher (that includes free postage!!)

That's all for now, until next time :)

Mini album - featuring Kaisercraft "Great South Land"

Hi everyone.....I am back again to share a mini album I have created using my March DT kit from Handmade by Suzanne, featuring Kaisercraft "Great South Land"

This range of papers is just perfect for my photos of our recent trip to Tassie.....throw into the mix these Kaisercraft wooden "Postcards"  ....and the idea to create a mini album was born!!! (LOL)

I thought the wooden postcards would be perfect to feature on the front & back covers of my album :)

I didn't have a bought/brand mini album, as such...so I had to create my album from scratch.  Each page is cut from fairly thick sheets of chipboard, that have come with different scrapping orders over the years....and me being me, never throws anything out!
Each page is approximately 21cm x 15cm. I then applied each piece of PP from the Great South Land range, by glueing it to the chipboard sheet....after first machine stitching a border around each piece & distressing & inking the edges.

I have kept each page fairly basic & simple, to try to keep the focus on the photos & journaling.

The cover.....

For this page I've used NSW & VIC PP's
The banner is handcut & made using 2 layers of PP with some foam dots in underneath to give a little bit of dimension...with some cotton lace with some Hemp twine threaded through the holes in the lace.
The little stamps were cut from the cut-off strip at the bottom of one of the Great South Land PP's (I can't remember which one...sorry).  The little cluster is an old Kaisercraft wooden scroll, Prima flowers & a handmade felt flower using My Favourite Things mini rolled roses die.

Page 2.....

Bay of Fires....Using NT as the background, with a Kaisercraft little wooden tree & a few buttons in the bottom left corner.  Title is using Basic Grey, October Afternoon & Fancy Pants alpha stickers.

Page 3.....

Port Arthur.....using WA & SA pp's, plus the little cut-off strip from one of the pieces.  I've embellished with a Kaisercraft wooden "Fob Watch" tied with a little piece of ribbon.  Title is using Basic Grey alpha stickers & AC foam Thickers.

Page 4.....

Richmond.....using QLD pp, a Dusty Attic mini windmill, D'Lish scraps journal spot, Manor House flower & Lovelybug Bits n Bobs fabric button.  Title is AC Thickers.

Page 5.......

Cradle Mountain.....Using VIC pp for the background, with Prima flower, Maya Road CB house, Kaiser pearl, a button, Scenic Route handcut leaf & a Kaisercraft Ribbon Rose that I have altered.  I found that the large ribbon rose was just a wee bit too big for my album page....so to alter it,  I cut the rose out, going around in the spiral as it is sewn on the background mesh, so that I ended up with a long piece of fabric.  I then twisted & rolled the fabric to create the 2 smaller flowers in the cluster at the top left of my page.  Title is Basic Grey alpha stickers & AC foam Thickers.

Page 6.....

Bruny Island.....using WA & NT pp's....with another of the little cut-off strips.  2 punched butterflies....Martha Stewart & EK Success...plus a little Kaisercraft ticket.  Title is OA alpha stickers & AC Thickers.

Page 7.....

South Cape.....Using NSW pp....plus another of the little trees from the Kaisercraft "Forest" pack & a Lovelybug Bits n Bobs button.  Title is Basic Grey alpha stickers &  more AC Thickers.

Back cover.....

Using QLD & VIC pp's, along with another of the little cut-off strips.  Again the cover features one of the Kaisercraft wooden postcards along with Kaisercraft "Journey" word rubon & another Kaisercraft ribbon rose, that I have altered again, but a bit differently.... this time I simply gather stitched around in a cirle at the back of the rose, and then pulled the thread to gather it up & then added a small button to the centre.  This made the rose just a little bit smaller to fit better on the postcard....plus it gave it more height/dimension on the page :).  There's also a few other bits from my stash.... Kaisercraft wooden leaves, Lil' Red Rocket fabric button, D'Lish scraps wooden heart that is at the centre of a handmade felt flower using MFT "Rolled Daisy" die & a Rainbow Splendour little mini pinwheel.

So there you have my little mini album from Tasmania....as I said, each page is fairly basic  simple...but I still love it! <3

Thanks for dropping by & I hope you've enjoyed seeing a part of our adventures in Tasmania :).  xx

Sketchabilities - Sketch # 67

Is now live on the Sketchabilities blog!
It is another fabulous sketch created by Karan Gerber, and I loved working with it!

This is what I've come up with....
I have turned the sketch on it's side so that the photos run vertical rather than horizontal :)

My Mad Hatters.....aka DD & DS...lol

I've delved into my really old Basic Grey stash for this one....using the Sublime range, with a mix of newer embellies - MME diecut, Prima flowers, Lil' Red Rocket vintage quote tag & red checked fabric button <3, AC Thickers & OA alpha stickers...plus I've used 2 different butterfly punches - Creative Memories & EK Success. I've also used my WeR Memory Keepers stitch piercer......this thing is so quick & easy to use & makes each stitch the exact same size & also nice & straight! I really should use it more often!

A few close ups...

I really hope you'll be inspired by this sketch and join in with us at Sketchabilities. Just upload your layout to the linky tool at the bottom of THIS post on the Sketchabilites blog by 11.59pm 29.3.2012 CST (which is USA time, I think?)
If you're after a bit more inspiration....just head over to the Sketchabilities blog & check out what the rest of the DT have created....I'm sure you'll be totally inspired :)

Sketch time & some "Great Southern Land" from Handmade by Suzanne

Hi everyone,
We are home safe & well from our trip to Tassie...we had a fabulous time seeing all that we could fit into our 3 weeks, but I really think you probably need at least double that amount of time to see everything properly - it is such an amazingly beautiful place!  I loved it <3

Anyways...on with some scrapping!

The March sketch at Handmade by Suzanne has been up since the beginning of the month, but seeings that I've only just got home, I'm only just getting it done :)

Here is the sketch....another fantastic one from Michelle Fowler...

I have used my HBS March DT kit to complete this sketch...which was full of Kaisercraft "Great Southern Land" goodness - just perfect for my new holiday pics! :)

Here is my take on the sketch.....

Kaisercraft "Great Southern Land" papers used:  QLDSANT ,  WA  & TAS specialty sheet....along with some Kaisercraft ribbon roses, little wooden trees & some Journey quote word rubons that were also in my kit this month - thanks Suzanne...love all of these goodies! :)

I've also added some Lil' Red Rocket embellies as well - another gorgeous little owl button & a vintage quote tag.  Plus there's a few bits and pieces from my stash - Manor House flower, Kaisercraft paper bloom, Basic Grey office tab, Scenic Route paper leaves, Martha Stewart butterfly punch & Tattered Angels glimmermist (Suede)....and some machine stitching.

My journaling is in under my photo....on one of the perforated cards from the TAS specialty sheet...and I've attached a BG office tab at the end of the card to be able to pull the card out, at the right side of the photo.

A close up of my title...including one of the Kaisercraft "Journey quote" rubons.

To be in the running for the sketch competition, a $30 store voucher is up for grabs (that includes free postage)...just upload your sketch layout to the March folder in the Handmade by Suzanne gallery HERE by midnight on 31st March...I would love to see you all giving the sketch a go :)

Thanks for dropping by & TFL  xx
I will add pics from our Tassie trip just as soon as I can :)
