Some more cards....

Hi again fellow bloggers :)

I am back to share the final creations from my August DT kit from The Scrapbook Store
(formerly known as Handmade by Suzanne)...using Cosmo Cricket's "Tea for Two"

I've created 3 very simple cards from the leftovers in my kit....

The first one doesn't have a sentiment on the front...I just left it blank, but may add one when the time comes to give the card to someone, if I feel it needs it.  I've just used a few scrap pieces of Butter & Cup & Saucer papers...with a piece of trim & one of the Stacked Stickers added on top.
Told ya it was simple!...lol

Again, no sentiment on this one either.  And again using leftover scrap pieces of Tea Towel & Sugar Cubes papers...a piece of lace from my stash, a sticker strip from the Cardstock Sticker pack...and another Stacked Sticker on top.

And the last one....Scraps of Butter & Tea Tins papers.. one of the journal tags from the Element Deck Journal tags booklet & yet another of the Stacked Stickers.  Again, very very simple!

That's all I have for now...hope everyone is having a fab weekend!
Thanks so much for dropping by & for all the lovely comments that you all leave me :) xx

Skissedilla...

I really love the sketches that they have over at Skissedilla....but I don't always have the time to do them each week.  Today I made time ...with about a day to spare...lol :)

This is sketch # 172

And here is what I've created....using a few 2crafty chipboard pieces, plus some Lil' Red Rocket embellies....

The 2crafty pieces I've used are - Tahnya's border & a cute little Birdcage.

I've left both pieces raw & just dabbed a bit of gesso here & there, as well as a touch of ink in spots.

The little bird I have inked in brown.

Here you can see the gorgeous Lil'  Red Rocket die cut butterfly.  Originally this butterfly was black, but I wanted it to be brown, so I simply gave it a couple of coats of gesso until you couldn't see the black anymore...then I painted it brown & have then randomly dabbed more gesso.  There's also some Lil'  Red Rocket paper doilies in behind the photo too.

And also a cute little frog button from Lil'  Red Rocket...I love these buttons!

And finally, my journaling about visiting the Broad Arrow Cafe memorial site in Port Arthur.
There's also some journaling around the outside of the layout which replicates the inscription around the outer edges of the reflection pool behind the cafe.  It reads -  Death has taken its toll.  Some pain knows no release but the knowledge of brave compassion shines like a pool of peace.  May we who come to this garden cherish life for the sake of those who died. Cherish compassion for the sake of those who gave aid. Cherish peace for the sake of those in pain.

Visiting the memorial site was very moving.

Thanks so much for dropping by & have a great weekend. xx

More HBS August DT work

For sketch #8 at Scrap Africa...

I had planned to save this layout & share it some time over the weekend, or early next week....because I thought the sketch challenge was open until the end of August.  But I've just realised that it's about to close.  Nothing like last minute & I guess it pays to read the fine print!!  lol

Here is the sketch...

I have turned the sketch 90 deg clockwise....and came up with this

Using Cosmo Cricket's Tea for Two range.
Rather than using a rectangle piece of paper behind the photo as per the sketch, I cut out all the little journal type frames from the Tea Tins PP and then layered them around & behind my photo.  The other papers used are Sugar Cubes & Tea Towel.

In my cluster I've used a white Manor House Creations flower that I've lightly misted in red...along with one of the Tea for Two cardstock stickers, a Lil' Red Rocket heart button & twine...that I've just sort of bunched up & around the white flower....plus a strip of Websters red ruffle trim across the bottom of the photo

Some journaling

And title.

The background I have misted using CW Chickenwire template ...then flicked some red GM around here & there, plus added some random bits of some really OLD Pink Paislee rubons.

Well...that's all folks.
What a nightmare this post has been!  Blogger decided to not let me add any photos, so at the last minute I had to add them to flickr & then copy & paste them.
Thank goodness I only just scraped in on time for the cutoff!

Happy weekend everyone

August - Once Upon a Sketch....

Hi there everyone...thanks so much for popping by today :)

I have a layout to share using my August DT kit from Handmade by Suzanne....Cosmo Cricket - Tea for Two...along with some 2crafty chipboard!

The theme this month at OUAS is seasons.
I chose to scrap a photo from one of our Summer holidays to Norfolk Island.

Here is the sketch...

And here is my layout....

I've used a kraft base that I punched around with Martha Stewart Swirling Lace punch..... with Tea Towel, Cup & Saucer & Butter papers from the Tea for Two range.
Plus I've used a few of the stickers from the Stacked Sticker & Cardstock Sticker packs....as well as a few of the Element Journal tags tucked in behind my photo.

The gorgeous little fence is  a piece cut from the 2crafty "Iron Fence" that comes in a 12" length..and I have simply given it a light coat of gesso...and then lightly misted in Honeydew glimmermist.

My cluster has one of the stickers from the Stacked Stickers pack, with a Manor House Creations flower, Kaisercraft paperbloom, a D'Lish Scraps ribbon flower...and a few flourishes cut using MFT Fancy Flourish die.

Another of the Fancy Flourish die cuts, a piece cut from the 2crafty Iron Fence, a strip of Maya Road chrochet trim & a few more Stacked Stickers

And of course, some journaling, which is one of the criteria at OUAS.

So that's all I have to share for now...but I do have some other news to share regarding Handmade by Suzanne....From next Tuesday (21st) Handmade by Suzanne will be launching a new website & a new business name - The Scrapbook Store!

PLUS....Suzanne is having a DT call!!!!
This really is a fantastic team, so I highly recommend you apply !

You can read all about these changes & the DT call HERE

Thanks so much for dropping by & taking a little look! xx
Have a great day :)

Grungy with Attitude!

Hello again everyone....I am back again with another layout to share for the August Kaisercraft Saturday sketch...using lots of papers & diecuts from the Kaisercraft Attitude range :)...plus a few pieces of 2crafty chipboard!

I'd also like to welcome & thank all my new followers...I'm so glad that you've decided to follow my blog :)

Ok, on with the layout.
Here is the August #1 sketch....

And here is what I've created.....

I've used Attitude papers & diecut pieces from the collectables pack...along with the 2crafty "Rockstar" title that was first run through my cuttlebug using an embossing folder...then it has many layers of gesso, ink, mists, gesso...and more mists, then a final dabbing coat of gesso.

I really don't think I could replicate this process again...lol.  As I said, it has many layers that changed from one look to another...but this is the end process & I think it looks pretty grungy to fit in with the rest of the layout & I'm quite happy with how it turned out :)

The Stars are also 2crafty....One I have dabbed with texture paste/Mist (the same mixture that I used for the background template work), the other is painted in gesso with a light spray of GM...and the 3rd one is painted in GM & then lightly misted in white mist.  The centre star I left raw.  I love how the stars formed a great little cluster to fit in with the sketch :)

I haven't created a male/grungy layout for quite a while...so this felt a little out of my comfort zone - I must be a tad out of practice when it comes to male layouts!  lol

Thanks so much for dropping by!  xx

Tea for Two + 2crafty + C'est Magnifique August sketch....

Hello again everyone...I'm back again to share another layout I've created using my August DT kit from Handmade by Suzanne, which features Cosmo Cricket's "Tea for Two" papers & embellishments plus some 2crafty chipboard.

I've created my layout based on the August sketch at C'est Magnifique...

And here is my layout....again, nothing to do with tea!
Which shows just how versatile this fab range is...you can create just about any themed layout with it!

Inside the Penitentiary ruins - Using Rose Petal Jam PP as my background, with some CW mini bricks template work using texture paste mixed with Mr Huey's Pumpkin spice mist....with a few punched strips of Butter & Cup & Saucer PP's.

The 2crafty chipboard piece is one of the Ruby's Swirls that I have cut into a few pieces & arranged at different angles to suit the sketch & cluster.  It has been gesso'd, then misted in a few different coloured mists to give a bit of a mottled rustic effect.

Here you can see the photos of inside the ruins a bit better...and my cluster using Manor House Creations & Prima flowers....and also one of the stickers from the Stacked Sticker pack.

A close up of the mini bricks template work.

That's all I have to share for now.
Thanks so much for dropping by....enjoy the rest of your day!  xx

In case you missed it....

These are my 2crafty DT layouts that were featured on the 2crafty blog back on 1st August.
I previously only showed some sneak peeks on my blog, but I'm now going to share the full layouts with you all here :)

Welcomed Solitude - Using the gorgeous 5" Floral Frame and 2 of the beautiful Flying Birds that I have covered in Ranger Crackle Paint.

I also used a Prima Vine & then added a few other Kaiser & Petalloo blooms in amongst the vine.

Some muslin tucked in behind the 5" Floral Frame...and some Kaiser pearls added to the little birds for their eyes :)

The background was created using Crafters Workshop 12x12 template - Cubist, some texture paste mixed with paint & then applied using an old credit card.

A close up of the crackle effect

I lightly misted a few paper doilies, then layered & tucked them in under the 5" Floral Frame & flowers...leaving them to pop out to one side.

Ok, now onto the 2nd layout....

It's a girl thing - Using one of the Floral Spray leafy flourishes (my favourite type of chipboard pieces!)....a cute little Birdcage & bird and a little Flourish in my small cluster at the top...and again some paper doilies to one side (just noticed that I did the same thing for both layouts...lol)

I added some texture paste to some white paint for the Floral Spray...and then lightly inked over it in spots.  The background is using another CW template - Tile Texture...again with texture paste & paint.

The birdcage  & bird were simply painted & then inked

The small flourish also had texture paste added to some paint & then lightly inked.

You can find my post on the 2crafty blog HERE...which has a bit more info and details on the techniques used, if you've like to pop over and have a looksie :)

Thanks so much for dropping by...and for all the wonderful comments that everyone leaves.
My apologies for not visiting your blogs much lately, I just seem to be so tired each day after work and there is always so much other stuff to be done.
I will try to pop over to visit you all just as soon as I can :)  xx

Kraft it Up & Cosmo Cricket - Tea for Two!!!

Hello there everyone!
This month for my Handmade by Suzanne DT kit.....Lucky me gets to play with the Cosmo Cricket "Tea for Two" range!

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love my tea!  But the layout I'm going to share today is nothing to do with tea ....at all! lol

This months challenge at Kraft it Up is a sketch challenge....with the added challenge to include layers!

Here is what I have created using "Tea for Two" from Cosmo Cricket....

I've also used some 2crafty chipboard - Cutesy Dragonflies, Flower Whispy & ATC  Elements 1 scroll ........ plus a Lil' Red Rocket spotty button & twine.

For the Whispy Flower, I painted it red, then applied some Ranger Stickles...then smudged some Gesso here & there

For the 2crafty scroll & dragonflies, I have painted them first in Antique White, then inked the edges with a blending tool...and to finish it off I've lightly sprayed some TA Burnt Red glimmermist.

For the background, I've used a CW template - Mini Harlequin - & painted on some Burnt Red glimmermist.

Pics are from our trip out to Broken Hill last year, out at the Living Desert where we spotted just a few of the gorgeous Sturt's Desert Peas...aren't they just beautiful!?

Okie doke....that is all for now, but I'm hoping I will be back some time in the next week with some more shares from this gorgeous range!

Have a great weekend everyone...xx

August sketch at Handmade by Suzanne

Hello everyone....welcome to a new month! (August already!?!?)
We all know a new month means new challenges and sketches!  So of course there is a new sketch at Handmade by Suzanne....and it is a fabulous 2 photo sketch, created by fellow DT member, Nadia Cannizzo....

And here is my layout.....

Using some of the gorgoeus My Minds Eye - Nostalgia ...some fab 2crafty chipboard pieces (Design Elements & Gears ) and a very versatile Lil' Red Rocket orange checkered button!

of course, a few close ups....

To get the rustic, almost rusty look on the 2crafty chipboard scroll & the cog, I first painted them in Gesso...and then dabbed them with Mr Huey's Pumpkin Spice mist.  With the Gesso on first, it kind of creates bits of resist with the mist...I love the effect!

And there is the orange checkered Lil' Red Rocket button tucked into my cluster, along with a handmade calico flower, some Kaisercraft blooms & a few other bits n bobs from my stash.

My Journaling & title about this old fence & fence post that found & enjoyed taking pics of in Tassie.

So there you have my take on the August sketch at Handmade by Suzanne...I hope you're inspired to give the sketch a go :)

You have until the end of the month to upload your entry to the August sketch folder in the Handmade by Suzanne gallery, which you can find HERE.  There is an awesome $40 store voucher up for grabs that includes FREE postage!  And all you have to do is enter....the winner is determined by random draw .  So, you gotta be in it to win it....time to get scrapping!

Looking forward to seeing your entries :)
Until next time....xxx
