Keeping the Best - Sketch #62

Hello there everyone....it's been a while, I know....but yay, I've scrapped (again!!...this not scrapping for a while seems to be coming a bit of a regular event! lol....oh well, such is life)

Anyways....it's a fairly bleak ol' Sunday afternoon here, so that's what got me motivated to scrap.
I thought I'd give sketch #62 at Keeping the Best a go, and here is what I've come up with....

Using a mix of scrap papers....My Minds Eye, October Afternoon....and I think there's some Basic Grey in there too.  Also some 2crafty chipboard...and have you noticed??...not a flower in sight!!

The background for my layout was inspired by 2 fabo scrappers
Sanna Lippert - for the stamped/template work (you can see her tutorial HERE on The Crafters Workshop blog)
And Chantelle Huizenga - who does this amazing white texture paste work, on white cardstock backgrounds (you can visit her blog HERE)

Thanks for the inspiration ladies!

ok, back to the sketch....which is here

And now for some close ups....

Some 2crafty chipboard circles & smalle pieces of French Lace Border ...along with my title
(which I've now realised is wrong....grrrr.  I had googled what type of ute this was at Deniliquin, and the Deneliquin tourism website said it was an EH.  Without even thinking, that's what I went for on my title....but now that I've photographed it etc, I'm thinking to myself, that is NOT an EH ute....it is more like an FB or an EK.  Oh well, easily enough to change it....but I couldn't be bothered rephotographing it, so you'll just have to pretend it says EK...lol)

Another 2crafty circle....with my journaling in the centre

Here you can get a better look at the template/stamping work inspired by Sanna...and the white on white texture work inspired by Chantelle

A few buttons....including a Flair

And again....some more template/texture work

Pics are from our road trip returning home from the Great Ocean Road, for an overnight stop at Deneliquin.
OMG was it HOT there....it was about 43 degrees, and silly us are wandering around doing the touristy thing...lol.  This old beaten up ute was covered in thousands of mosaic tiles and the reason for a ute?  Because Deniliquin is home to the annual Ute Muster, of course!

Ok, enough rambling from me :)
Thanks for dropping by.... xx

Paperstories June sketch

Hello again fellow bloggers...how is everyone this Sunday morning?  I hope you are all well :)

I have another layout to share....for the June sketch at Paper Stories (created by the very talented Emma Stafrace), which was a lot of fun to work with.  I loved the design of this sketch as soon as I seen it :)

This is how my layout turned out, using papers from the Kaisercraft 75 cents collection and a mix of embellishments.....including some 2crafty chipboard

My background didn't quite work out how I had envisioned it would (nothing new there...lol)...but I'm still quite happy with the result.  Photos are from earlier this year on our return from our Great Ocean Road trip.  We stopped off for a break in the middle of nowhere, where the road squeezed between these 2 really unsual lakes, Lake Carangamite & Lake Gnarput, in the lakes & craters region of the Victorian Volcanic Plains - the water in them looked white (and I'm guessing that was because of high salt levels?) & it was very strange looking & really quite eerie!  Plus the area was so so flat, which I thought was unusual seeings it is a crater/volcanic area.

Anyways..... this is the fabo sketch

And now for some closeups.....

A few blooms from Petaloo & Green Tara, a flair button from D'Lish Scraps & a little chipboard bracket from 2crafty...along with some punched leaves.

Another 2crafty piece - one of the arrows from the mixed arrows pack

My title....and here you can see some of the messy background!

Another 2crafty arrow, as well as some handcut chevrons

And lastly, a bit of a close up of the whole layout

Thanks so much for dropping by & leaving any comments :)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend peeps....xx

Scrap around the world....June challenge

I had all intentions of giving last months challenge (their first) at Scrap Around The World a go....but it just didn't happen, unfortunately.  But this month is different....I've done it - yay!

I love the concept behind this challenge blog....a sketch plus a mood board to take your inspiration from - and there are DT members from all over the world to also inspire you, in case you're still a little bit stuck & not sure which direction to go with from the board.

So anyways...this is this months sketch & mood board....

I took my inspiration from the vintage feel and the colours from the photo at the bottom right of the board - plus all the cameras from each image.....and I came up with this

Ive used the green, brown, honey/mustard (from the table top) & little bit of red from the image, bottom right on the board.  There's also a few little stamped camera images,
as inspired by the mood board
And I've stayed fairly true to the sketch.

And now for some close ups....

My cluster....with one of the stamped camera images...that I stamped onto canvas, which gives a nice textured finish.

And another camera

My title, journaling & smaller cluster
(whooops....glue not quite dry under the journaling strips! lol)

Rather than the banner sweeping across my page, as in the sketch...I chose to place my banner shapes across the top of the layout, in a straight line.  Here you can see some 2crafty fencing wire panel pieces popping out from behind my photo.

And here is another 2crafty chipboard piece coming out from my cluster - Evan's Swirl.

You may recognise the photo I've used on my layout, that I took quite a few months ago for one of the prompts for the Fat Mum Slim photo a day challenge...I think it was February.  It is an old derelict house not too far from where I live...and each time I drive past it, I always wonder about it - who lived there, what did they do, where are they now (well, not them, but their descendants) etc etc....but I guess it's just one of those things that will never be known.

Okie dokie...that's all from me for now folks....2 layouts in 2 weeks - I'm doing well!! hehe
Enjoy your long weekend, for those in Aus who get it this weekend.

Take care....xx

I had a slight itch...

.......and I just had to scratch it

I'm not sure, but perhaps todays weather had something to do with bringing on said itch.
It's been about 6 weeks since I've scrapped, and during that time I've not had the urge to scrap.  Not.even.once.  And I can't say that I've missed it either.....Weird, huh?

But today, that little incling of an itch was there....so with miserable weather & not much else to do (as reading all the fine print & trying to understand everything with hiring a car in Ireland was starting to do my head in!!!)...I thought I'd best move onto something else & scratch that itch! lol

The sketch over at Skissedilla really tickled my fancy...errrr itch, so that is what I went with, and here is what I came up with...........

Using PP from the Prima Sunrise-Sunset collection for my background....although it looks nothing like the original piece.  Lots of misting & stamping on there.

Apologies for the bad photos....miserable weather tends to do that when taking photos indoors :-/

Here is the sketch over at Skissedilla - sketch #212

And now for some close ups

Diecut leaves & flowers (the 2 larger ones)...
and a piece of 2crafty chipboard, "Lace Square", that I cut in half and you can see it just
popping out from under the photo too

Title & layers under the photos

And here's the other half of the 2crafty "Lace Square"

My journaling about our Sunday drive :)

And that's it folks.
Who knows when I will scrap again....could be tomorrow or perhaps another 6 weeks time.
Just don't go holding your breath....lol

Enjoy your weekend peeps & thanks for popping by...xx
(I'm hoping to spend some time tonight visiting my fav blogs....it's long overdue!)
